Cystitis

Causes and Symptoms of Cystitis

When you are diagnosed with cystitis it means that you have an infection in your bladder. The term is also used to cover a range of irritations and infections that are associated with the whole of the urinary tract. Cystitis can cause burning sensations when you are urinating and give you the feeling, even if there is nothing to void, that you must use the bathroom right away.

Many people visit their doctors at the first signs of a bladder infection. Others are used to the symptoms and know various ways that they can alleviate the pain and discomfort that is often associated with a urinary tract infection.

Who Gets Cystitis?

More women than men suffer with the effects of this condition. You get this condition from the intestinal bacteria that are present in your bladder. Women whose urethra is short get bladder infections far more often than others who urethra are within the normal ranges. The urethra is the tube in which your urine passes from the bladder to the toilet.

Women who engage in sexual relations with more than one partner are also more susceptible to bladder and/or urinary tract infections. If you are having sex with more than one partner, the best thing you can do for yourself is to go to the bathroom before you engage in intercourse and immediately following the act. This can help clear out any bacteria that are waiting to attack your system.

Elderly people are prone to cystitis and it can be harder to diagnose them than any other group who suffers from this condition. Often the elderly will feel little or no symptoms when they are suffering from cystitis. That is why it is important to monitor their frequency of elimination and if they have any complaints about pain after going.

Cats, children, women and men can all suffer from the effects of infections of the urinary tract. The way you can avoid this discomforting and oftentimes annoying condition is to take care that you don’t get it in the first place. A urinary tract infection has no prejudice and anyone without proper care and hygiene, anyone can contract it. Even though it is a rarer condition in men, they too can contract a urinary tract infection.
